The catalyst for Live Edge Solutions and On the Edge gallery was an intense summer storm in 2016 that ripped through the Driftless in Southwest WI. One hundred mile per hour straight line winds snapped trees in half and knocked down 75yr. old cherry and oak trees. My son, Zach and I decided to rescue the logs and started milling boards. Our vision started to take hold. In 2020, we started our business and opened our gallery “On the Edge” to share these wonders of nature and provide handcrafted wood and metal products for everyday use. Our products are produced from trees rescued from our 30-acre family forest. No two products are alike and so-called imperfections are celebrated. The history of the log remains intact, be it beetle holes, fungal spalting or small knots. Each board is its own work of art and paired with the metal work that my son creates, each piece has its own unique beauty than can only come from Mother Nature.
