The Helen’s Daughters handbag business started in 1989 between two sisters: Char, in Wisconsin and Mariella, in Minnesota. Helen was their mother. The handbag business honors her and all that she taught them about being creative, loving life and having fun.
Char designs, creates and sews award-winning tapestry handbags, pocketbooks, backpacks, and purses. The handbags are plain to fancy, pretty to bold, and every day to occasional – always useful. Char’s work has traveled all over the world. They are collected and loved by young and old.
She constantly searches for unusual and sometimes limited fabrics and trims. Char has her own individual handbag style and creative designs. She participates in regional art fairs and shows. Helen’s Daughters Studio has participated in all of the Fall Art Tours. She has been there from the beginning. She has a very active social media presence. Check out Char’s Helen’s Daughters Studio social media feeds (Facebook/Instagram/TikTok) for what she is making and where to find their work! Stop by her studio during the tour and see she 150-year-old home and gardens. And….of course the handbags.

Fiber Baskets

Handwoven baskets of original design. Functional vessels created using traditional weaving methods. I love to experiment with the shapes and accent colors which create the final piece.
