Oil/acrylic, ceramic, mixed media, natural materials

I have always had an insatiable curiosity and a need to create. Whether it be a curse or a blessing, the drive to experience the world through touch and expressing it with my hands has been with me since early childhood. My parents were both creatives, and getting caught in their studios making things was a common occurrence for me.

Creating artwork has been a lifelong passion, weaving in and out of my years, and has finally become my primary occupation after making the artist colony, Mineral Point, Wisconsin, my home. I am so grateful to share my work and the opportunity to create in such a beautiful area known as the Driftless Region.

My love and fascination with the natural world became the springboard of inspiration; with my belief that everything is connected and alive. Combined with my curiosity of the deep past and its symbols such as maps, petroglyphs and cave paintings, my works can range from flora and faunal subjects, archaeological motifs and artwork, to old machinery, landscapes and maps primarily of the Driftless Region, Lake Superior and the Southwest.

I am not defined by media. The media I work with is dependent upon my inspiration. It ranges from clay sculpture and painting, whether it be watercolor, acrylic/oil or pen and ink, to mixed media collages and sculpture created from natural objects.

It is so inspirational when a connection is made between someone viewing my work and the work itself. I am simply a person, a messenger if you will, that loves to create things. It is my belief that those who appreciate my work are the ones who define me as an artist. I am humbled when this magical partnership allows my creation to become art.
