20 Carol Naughton

Carol Naughton is a ceramic artist who creates one of a kind, expressive tableware and functional pottery. The forms and functional uses of her ceramics reflect her love of fine cooking, gardening and bird watching.

She works with porcelain and stoneware clays. The ceramic pieces are wheel thrown and altered or handbuilt from slabs which incorporate drawings and sculptural additions. Carol’s glazes are mixed at the studio from raw ingredients and are food and dishwasher safe. Many of the colors reflect historic Japanese glazes. The completed pieces are high fired in a gas reduction kiln that provides a wide range of glaze surfaces and colors.

The studio is in a remodeled 1876 stone granary on a beautiful farm located in the driftless area of Wisconsin. The regional stonework construction and colors of the granary are reflected in the clay and glaze choices of Carol’s work.
